Kendry Paez needs no introduction. Fresh off the now world-renowned Independiente del Valle (IDV) production line, the 15 year old Ecuadorian has become a recognised name globally in the last fortnight with a whole host of top level clubs around the world vying for his signature.
Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are the front runners, with the current transfer fee supposedly between £15m and £18m. Leverkusen may be an attractive prospect for the young Ecuadorian, firstly, as he will likely be afforded game time sooner, and secondly, as his countryman and fellow rising star, Piero Hincapié currently plays for the Bundesliga Club.
Kendry certainly is the flavour of the month and could be on the move shortly but our sources inform us that Independiente are holding out for in the region of £40m which could put off some suitors. The Ecuadorian 'wonderkid' has been on our radar for some time so we thought we would share some of our scout reports as we put our spotlight on Paez and assess if he really is the next South American superstar.
REPORT ONE: Multiple Game Review (Early 2022)
REPORT TWO: IDV vs LDU Quito (03/06/22)

REPORTS THREE and FOUR: Ecuador vs Argentina (24/10/22), Uruguay (25/10/22)
CONCLUSION
It's fair to say that here at SAFA, we're very impressed by Kendry Paez. Three of our Player Analysts assessed a number of his performances and consistently he impresses in the Physical and In Possession domains. If he can develop his Defending and Psychological/Behavioural aspects over the next few years, we have a real player on our hands.
*Some clear discrepancies between ratings here, something we would expect when assessing a 15 year old's non linear development
As ever, it is important we don't get too carried away by yet another 'wonderkid' in the tabloids. Kendry Paez has top level attributes but it's essential that he has access to the right developmental pathway and environment for him and for his career trajectory. A move out of Ecuador at the age of 15 may not be what Paez needs right now especially as he is at a highly esteemed club, the Copa Sudamerica champions and one with a fantastic reputation for developing young players.
Paez is on the cusp of something really exciting, a journey which could result in him being a leading light in world football, the last thing he needs is to be another number in a big academy. It's clear to see why IDV may hold out for something in the region of £40m and here at SAFA, we think a successful spell playing men's first team football at Independiente might just be his best option at this moment in time.
